Burnout
Burnout.
Oh, sorry. I didn't see you standing there. Thought I was alone. If you're intent on watching me and all, at least let me play this banjo song I've been working on.
A few billion years from now, as the world falls awaaay…
A halo of fire makes contact, all the same
The water bubbles and boils, steams and evaporates
Ascending into the universe like the labored saint it is
The cities of the Earth, abandoned long ago
Splinter and melt and CRACK
New York, London, and Beeerlin
Shanghai, Tulsa, Dubai
Oblivion comes to them, like everywhere else
But life flourishes elsewhere, at the cost of the ancestral home
And then the last micro life
Defined by endurance and their strife
Painlessly passes away in a plasma embrace
HEY!
Burnout.
