Alec could not sleep. He stared at the ceiling thinking about what had happened the past week. He did not want to think about it but this was not something you could forget easily. The memory was fresh in his mind. The shooting. He thought he could save them. He was a cop after all it was his job to save them. But he could not. 3 injuries. 3 more than he has ever had while on the job. At 21 he was the youngest member of the task force. He was 19 when he joined. He got up from the bed and went into his kitchen to grab some sleeping medicine. He stopped and stared at a photo on his wall. It has been 1 year since his wife has died. He still has not ever got over it. Again it was his fault. They went out for dinner and on their way out of the restaurant when a man with a gun jumped out. He shot Alec's wife and ran off with her purse. Alec did not even chase. He left his gun at home and had nothing to defend himself with. The memory came back to him as he stared at his wedding photo. He shook his head and went into the kitchen. He grabbed 2 melatonin and throw them down this throat with some water. As he went back to his bedroom he thought he saw something. A shadow. He decided it was nothing and went back to his bedroom. Finally at 2:30 he managed to fall asleep. His dream was something different. Since the shooting he saw the same thing. The screams. the bullets. The blood. This time he was in a room. It looked like a kitchen not to different from his own. However this one looked like it belonged to a businessman. There was papers on the table with a briefcase. He tried to open the briefcase but it was locked. The papers were in a language he did not understand. Was that japanese? Chinese? It was strange symbols he did not understand. "Sorry for keeping you waiting" Alec jumped up and looked behind him. Their standing behind him was… a man? It was hard to tell. His face was hard to make out. It seemed blurry and unable to choose what it looked like. "Do not focus on my face" the man said. "Who are you" "My name is not important" he replied "you can just call me The Business Man." "Where am I?" asked Alec. "Why we are in the place you should recognize."
"My kitchen?"
"Why of course!"
"But how did I get here I was just in my bed?"
"You still are. This is just your dreamscape. It is much easier for me to visit you here then in you world"
"Are you…"
"Am I real? Of course I am! Well kind of…"
"What do you mean?"
That is not important"
Alec's mind was racing. He did not understand who this man was. he knew that he was dreaming but he did not understand how it seemed so real. "I guess the real question is what do you want?"
"I am here to make you a deal. I am called the business man after all."
"What kind of deal?"
"What do you most desire?"
Alec thought about it. What does he want? He wants many things. Money, a new car and a new house. But he thought about it more. He knows what he really wants. "I want everyone who ever were hurt by my actions to get a 2nd chance."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes"
"That is mighty shelfless of you. However I am a businessman so you don't get what you want without me getting something in return."
"What is it you want?"
"I want you"
"What?!"
"I want you to agree to come with me. To stay with me in the dreamscape. It gets lonely here and I could use a assistant."
"Why my? Why not someone else?"
"I am not quite sure why I was drawn here tonight. However something is different about you. I don't know what it is but you seem more like me."
"What do you mean?'
"I mean that you are also lonely. You also want to help others. That is why you became a cop right? You could not save you parents so you decided to become a cop. When I asked you for you wish you wanted others to get a 2nd chance not yourself."
Alex wondered how this man knew about the death of his parents. They were robbed and shot. He never got over it. "That is true but-"
"No buts there is nothing left for you here. I can not reverse the dead but I can help those here were hurt get healed."
Alec thought about it. The man could not bring his dead wife back but he can make sure those who were in the shooting get better. And the Businessman was right there was nothing left for Alec here. "Do we have a deal?" the Business man asked. "Yes" The two shook hands. Alec wondered what was going to happen in the future, but he just smiled. This was a new start.

Wilson woke up from a hospital bed. Suddenly doctors began to rush in. There was to much talking for Wilson to understand was going on. then he heard something that shocked him. "You should be dead."

This is only a beginning of a larger story that will span over several smaller stories.
