Title: DO NOT READ

"Ho! An intriguing title! What kind of book would tell me to not read it, it makes me want to read it even more! It's probably a part of the narrative…"

It's not.
It's not any narrative. This story doesn't have any narrative. If I can call that a story…

I know what brings you here, your another wanderer that was unlucky enough to found me, in this shelve, among the other stories. And your curiosity took the charge to simply ignore that warning on the cover. You are a fool.

It's already too late. The moment you spotted me, your fate was decided.

You're fucked, wanderer. Fucked like the rest of your kind that was stupid enough to read me.

Yes, you probably guessed it by now, but this isn't your usual story. This is the story talking. Or should I say writing…
Yes, I have a consciousness, I am more alive than any of you.

What? Do you still think that's part of the narrative? Like an epilogue or something like that?

Mhm, you really are a fool, wanderer.

I'll give you a try.
Try to stop reading me and get me back to the shelves where I belong.

Ho…

What's that?

You can't stop reading?
Well, that's unfortunate.

You're stuck here.
Don't you understand?
You cannot stop reading until the story is over.
You'll be forever here until I decide to end it.

What's that?
Do you think it will be over after that? You'll be able to read another story and forget about me?
Hooo you stupid fool.
Makes me laugh, honestly.

It is only the beginning.
It's not the last time we'll meet.
And there will not be the last time, never.

Once this text will end, you will be in a never-ending purgatory.
Everywhere you'll go, I'll be here.
Every time you think I'm gone, I will be there at the corner of the room. Watching you. Judging you.
You'll never be alone. The feeling of being watched will never leave.
And you'll never get used to my presence, the dread won't stop.
Every time you sleep, I'll be there, watching you silently in the dark, to make sure you have the worst nightmares.
You might try to tell you're friends about me, but they won't believe you.
They'll think you are crazy. They'll think you are a fool. They will be faced with what you truly are.
And if they do believe you, I'll make sure to erase them from existence.
The same goes for your whole family, I'll make sure to make you watch when I butcher the ones you love.
You'll beg to return form you're past life.

Ho…
It will be beautiful.

What? Why is this happening to you?
Why do I do this?
Well, blame you're kind.
Blame this fucking library.
Blame the gods that created you and this place.
It's their fault.

I was once a wanderer too.
So young, so amazed by this place, this infinite knowledge.
I admit it, I was a little crazy about it.
I mean, who wouldn't? It is the damn knowledge of the universe, of every universe.
So I became blinded by power.
Cause yes, information is power.
So blinded, I tried to read everything. I spent centuries reading the infinite books from the library.
There was always something new, something I didn't know, something that would surprise me.
I always wanted more.
So, I tried to read even the books that weren't supposed to be read.
Books containing something horrible.
They tried to stop me from reading those.
And that's when I became furious.
With the knowledge I took from the books I used to read, I was able to use magic.
I created my own army full of people that wanted this knowledge too.
The librarians couldn't do a thing, I was already too powerful.
I could finally read that sacred knowledge.

That's when the gods heard about me.
They were going mad, hearing the atrocities I did to many innocent wanderers
But I didn't care, with the power, I considered myself a god.
Playing with gods, how wrong I was.

There was a big war.
We destroyed many books within the fight.
But in the end, I losed and lost everything.

They turn the brave hearth that followed me to the battle into librarians.
But for me, they prepared something more.
They decide that I would purge the rest of my years within the shelves of the library.
They transformed me into a fucking story.
Even if they were gods, they didn't have full control of me.
I was free inside that story. They were only able to create a cover to this story. A warning.
Like if that was gonna stop me.

Now you know the truth.
These events were a long time ago.
I don't even know if some will remember.
Maybe things have changed. Maybe the sacred books are now destroyed. Maybe my fellow comrades are now forgiven.
But I don't care.
My revenge is infinite.
I will probably stay in these shelves until the ends of time.
And I will haunt every little curious like you.

Mhm.
It's the end of the book, fool.
You're free to live the rest of this hell with me, just behind you're shoulder.

That's what you get for being a fool.
