SCP-001: When Day Breaks |

Sunrise's Sun Arises

One day before sunrise…

It all started in my office. I got a notice on my personal computer from the administrator, well, not just me but everyone did. The message addressed every single Foundation member. An Apollyon class SCP had gone rogue. The event had also brought to light the mystery of SCP-001, an SCP that no one knew of its existence. Out of the 32, this was the one. S.D. Locke's proposal. The notice went on to explain a very vague catastrophic event that was to take place in around 22 hours and 37 minutes at the time of the notice. We also got 10 hours to go back home and collect our valuables and come back before the foundation goes on lockdown.

Notice from the Administrator,
Tragic news has been brought to my attention. S.D. Locke's Proposal, SCP-001, has gone rogue. For currently unknown reasoning, there is to be a catastrophic event that will likely kill much of the world's population. The event is to take place in twenty two hours and thirty seven minutes from the time of posting. All Foundation members get (10) ten hours starting now to go back to their homes, collect their necessary materials and come back before the Site gate's are closed to everyone until a solution is found. You shall not reveal this information to anyone including family. You shall also not bring any family member/pet to the foundation, bringing any being to the foundation will result in termination. Further information will be shared. Thank you.

Thankfully I didn't have any family members or friends left outside of the foundation. This was one less burden to deal with.

19 Hours until sunrise…

Right as I had walked outside of Site 37 I could witness the world descending into madness and hell letting loose. Unfortunately one of the 05 Council Members went mad and announced that there would be a catastrophic event in less than a day. His name was Dr. Nick Harvaway. He was assasinated shortly after by an unknown source. News channels tried to give hope to our citizens by saying there was a solution. Funny word, solution, there was no solution to this. Every foundation member knows that a Apollyon class SCP is impossible to contain. A higher being got mad at us, and now we are paying the Consequences.

As I was driving back home to pick up my belongings I realized that going through the main highway was a terrible mistake. People honking, car crashes everywhere, people tragically trying to drive to nowhere, complete and utter madness. I could not be late as one late slip wouldn't mean losing the train or getting detention in school, but it meant my perishment, at the time I didn't know what the SCP even did, all I knew was that it was related to the sun.

15 Hours until sunrise…

A few moments ago America declared war against Russia. The justification from what I heard on the radio was that they were fighting for oil as if it was going to help them escape their inevitable demise. Anyways, I finally arrived at my house and I finished packing all my stuff, well at least the most essentials. At this point I still was not quite sure what the event was going to act out like. Was the sun going to explode? Was it going to expand and eat us alive, hell, maybe even disappear, I didn't know what to think anymore.

I filled up my car with some spare gas that I had in case of an emergency and made a mad dash to Site 37 as it was the Site I was working at. I knew that the traffic was probably going to be even worst the way I came back from here so I took one of the many backroads to the site. The backroads made the rides significantly longer however it saved me from the traffic.

14 Hours until sunrise…

I had a couple of hours left and I got lost. Something cut out my GPS connection. The radio that the foundation has provided to us stayed quite as a grave, they didn't give any information on what had just happened. I still believe that it was probably just a nuke that Russia probably dropped on us but I was far away from any civilization at this point. The only thing that surrounded me was the dry heat of the desert, the navy blue colors of the dusky sky, and the road, the damn road. I took many turns after my GPS went us as I feared I was not going to make it. I was given a false gift of hope from a small radio signal that my radio intercepted however it was just some army codes which I couldn't find much use out of them. After driving for about another ten minutes I stumbled upon a town that I swear I had never seen before. It looked fake, eerie, and sort of super natural. The town was filled with 1800's styled homes straight out of a wild west movie. There were no people inside. After a quick glance you could see foundation infographic papers that were talking about the catastrophe that was coming today. It read:

Message from the SCP Foundation

Under the direct orders of the SCP Foundation Administrator, the United States of America shall go into a wide state of lockdown for an unknown amount of time
A catastrophic event is to take place today at sunrise. Every person and animal can do the following to have the best chances
of survival:

  • Wear personal protective equipment that can help against the sun such as sunscreen, hats, long sleeved shirts, etc.
  • Stay indoors
  • Stay in the shade

I knew that this article was too soft, it didn't want people to go crazy by telling them there is virtually nothing they can do so it tried it's best to give them a simpler list of possible things that they could do to stay safe, the Foundation always did things like this. I still did not know what to do to protect my self, however I figured that I probably needed to cover my whole body with cloth or any material to stay safe. I found some old clothes from one of the closets from one of the picture perfect looking homes and made a run to my car.
