Letters to the Lord Tagaldar The Faceless

From: John Novak
To: Lord Tagaldar The Faceless

  • Honored Lord Tagaldar,
It pains me to admit it, but due to my own foolishness, I have somehow ceased to exist. I have not died. I, a person, organism, or mind, no literally longer exist in any way or form, except this mockery of a concept that currently wrights to you. My previous employers would likely call me a "Pattern Screamer", which I do not think is a correct classification of this state(or rather the lack of it), but I am glad I can at least name it.
  • Although I hate to take your precious time, you are probably the only person I know of, who is in the position to understand my situation. I would be forever in your debt if you would decide to help me.

Yours
Alexander

From: Erett Inanis Tagaldar
To: Alexander

  • Dear Alexander,
  • It has taken a lot of time, before I've finally decided how to answer your plea for help. The situation you've described is odd, even judging by my standards. Despite the many of my encounters with the so-called "Pattern Screamers" in my life, I'm nowhere close to understanding any significant part of their nature. That is why we have to start with determining some things about your current position.
  • First of all, we need to determine the difference between what you know about the "Pattern Screamers", and what you think you are. It is almost commonly believed that those patterns can be strengthened by increasing the number of people knowing about them. I don't think there is a point in asking you how did you send me your message despite not existing, so I'll ask instead: Are you capable of communicating with other people? There are some entities I know could be helpful to you, if only you could reach them.
  • As I'm writing those words, I still have no idea, how I'm gonna send a letter to someone who does not exist, so it might take a while before it reaches you. Anyway, sorry for the waiting.

Sincerely
Lord Erett Inanis Tagaldar

From: Eithan Tucker
To: Lord Erett Inanis Tagaldar

  • Dear Erett,
You have no idea how much your friendship means to me in those dark dark times. Since my last letter, I've made some HUGE progress thanks to you, but I'm not sure if I'm any closer to solving my problem. I hate to take so much of your precious time, but I don't know how much longer do I have, before there won't be any going back to what I used to be. I'm pretty sure I used to be a human, or at least roughly humanoid, but as of late when I try to visualize what I will be when we are finally done, I can't see anything, but those awful eldritch tentacles…
  • My friend, please… I don't want to be a monster.

Yours
Mannfred

Dear Alex,
I'm sorry to hear about what you are going through, but I'm afraid my research haven't gone very far since my last letter.
Some of our correspondence seem to have gone missing, and to be sure I'll send you some copies of this message, and the one I'll write in the future.

Sincerely
Lord Erett Inanis Tagaldar
