AUSTRALIA AIRLINERS A319NEO (AL718) 04 APRIL 2012

On 04 April 2012 at 617 Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), Australia Airliners (AL) Flight AL718 Darwin-bound, departed with a total of 127 persons aboard (114 Commercial Passengers, 13 Crew) from Runway 2 Kualanamu International Airport. The aircraft was a A319NEO.

1.2 Recorded Radio Transmissionstrust

Recorded radio transmissions between FO and Air Traffic Controllers (ATC) showed an airway clearance check made at 621:03 UTC with clearance granted at 621:29 UTC.

At 622:37 UTC, ATC permitted Flight AL718 to reach Flight Level 200 (Term in Aviation for 20,000 ft.).

At 741:58 UTC, AL718 was instructed to contact ATC on the radio frequency 139.2 MHz. At 741:59 UTC, AL718 proceeded with "Hello Australia Airliners Seven One Eight, Frequency One Three Nine Point Two”. This was the last recorded radio transmission from AL718.

At 837:15 UTC, AL718 was instructed to contact ATC on the radio frequency 122.7 MHz. AL718 did not respond.

At 1124:21 UTC, AL718 was expected to arrive at Kualanamu International Airport. Contact with AL718 was attempted but unsuccessful.coverup

2.2 Flight Path

Flight AL718 departed from Kualanamu International Airport, in Medan, Indonesia at 617 UTC set towards Darwin, Australia. AL718 took a right turn when above Jakarta, Indonesia, and flew over Christmas Island. Location was then lost above the Christmas Island.

It is speculated that AL718 also took another turn going to the Keeling Island. Searches were conducted along the Christmas Island, The southern coast of Indonesia,Keeling Island, and the Indian Ocean between the already mentioned areas.
