Free writting - Just a bit of rain
Suddenly, without even a warning, without even announcing the slightest change, so suddenly that many people became afraid, the sky darkened. Large gray clouds passed in front of the sky so blue and so joyful and so pure and covered the sun, without allowing a single ray of light to pass through. Obviously, the attention went directly to this: was it the end of the world? Are we all going to perish today and right here? What did we deserve to suffer this? And how long would this disaster last? Everyone rushed unrestrainedly towards the observation points, taking care to keep a certain distance, as if the glass would no protect them as much as expected from the disaster. Papers and other documents were abandoned, with the idea that they were no longer worth it for the time being, the smoking cups were left there, abandoned to their sad fate on the tables, the projections in the dark rooms remained frozen still. Nothing mattered any more than what was going to happen, or what had to happen, because it was inevitable, everyone knew it.
Then there was a slight impact against the glass of the room. Almost imperceptible, so that the few who could hear it preferred to keep quiet rather than sound like madmen, and wait to see if it was not just an illusion. Then he had another one. Then another. More and more. Faster and faster. Harder and harder. So much that everyone was sure it was real. So much so that in just a few seconds, it was impossible to see through the thick milky curtain that fell violently on Earth. Sometimes, a violent blast would throw them against the glass panes, rinsing out the buildings, covering the slightest noise outside with a heart-rending din. Impossible to hear the unfortunate man screaming in agony as he tried to seek refuge in a car. Impossible even to deny his existence, although there was only a curtain outside hiding the show from interested spectators.
Each hammering, which at first seemed to be just a child's finger clumsily trying to attract attention until it irritated the occupants of the room, gradually became a real orchestra, composed largely of percussion instruments, playing a chaotic dramatic melody, with no conductor to guide them. Falling against the sheet metal of the roof, falling against the windows, falling against the decrepit walls, … Falling into the gutters, falling against the glass, falling against the skin, against the face …
It continued as if it could not be contained. As if it had been contained for so long that it had now become too strong and too powerful to hold it back any longer. A disaster. A forbidden thing that does not seek to be seen, that was no supposed to happen in this very time.
Soon the piece would come to an end, leaving an indelible mark on its audience, disturbed, shaken, wet by those heavenly tears. We will then find strange birds, huddled together to warm themselves, pushing croaks, shaking their feathers to get rid of these small pearls so fragile and yet so prickly.
And slowly, until the next shower, the world would gradually regain its colors …
