It came in the blink of an eye, literally speaking.

On a day like any other, every man, beast, and machine on Earth blinked simultaneously. Instantly after, what appeared to be two old-fashioned clock towers had manifested at opposite ends of the horizon. They floated in the air, with nothing to support them. And on their clocks, showed the time of 5:00.

On the first day after the manifestation, confusion arose. Nobody had seen such a phenomenon happen before. The people spoke of it first, then the press, and then the powerful. No one could say what the towers were, where they came from, why they're here, or how it happened. Everyone was at a loss. Naturally, speculation emerged. The conspiracy theorists cried that the towers were aliens, descending from deep space to do who-knows-what to the Earth. The religious preached this as a sign from a higher power, whichever they believed. They yelled of end times, ascensions, and spirituality. The scholars went into a frenzy, as thoughts rose of all of the laws and theories of the world being utterly false. They tried to suggest mass hysteria and mirages, though eventually gave up. The clock struck six.

On the second day, [UNFINISHED]

On the third day, the people gave the clock tower a new name: the Trinity Towers, after the three needle-thin spires at its roof. Even when everyone knew there to be one of it, many found it easer to refer to the towers as a duo. [UNFINISHED]

On the fourth day, the people grew attached to the Trinity Towers. [UNFINISHED]

On the fifth day, [UNFINISHED]

On the sixth day, [UNFINISHED]

On the seventh day, [UNFINISHED]

And right before the missiles dropped, the clock struck twelve.
