The Sky Turned Purple

Today the sky turned a deep purple

It was a hot sunny day and I was walking to the ice cream shop with my mother and younger sister, Amelia. The streets were busy as usual and everything just seemed to pass by slowly. I trudged along the sidewalk, holding on to Amelia's stroller, she cried from the heat, I didn't blame her, I would cry too if I were covered up by a blanket under a blazing sun. When we got to the shop, my mother told me to sit at a table and watch Amelia while she ordered the cold treats. I must have fallen asleep while waiting because I remember playing peek-a-boo with Amelia but I don't remember anything after that. I was sitting in my seat at the ice cream shop, but the place was empty. Did my mother leave me here? No, she couldn't have, she cares about me, she would never leave me behind. It was dark outside with a purple haze outside, I stood up and looked at the clock, it was only 1 pm, so why was it so dark out so early? I walked outside and looked up. The sky was a menacing deep purple. I looked around as fear and anxiety flooded through my body, the streets were empty. I felt a cold wind rush past me and that was my signal to go home. run Allison, run, the voice in my head screamed as an army of shadowy figures appeared in the distance. Tears falling down my face, my feet pounding against the asphalt, I ran as fast as my legs could run, I ran to my house, I pounded aginst the door and yelled for my mother to let me in. I glanced over my shoulder and saw shadowy figures wandering the streets and alleyways, their limbs swaying back and forth. I remembered the key around my neck, I yanked it off and unlocked the front door. I pushed the door open and slammed it shut behind me before locking it back up. My house was eerily quiet, I soon learned that nobody was home.
